Saturday Skills For Girls Hoops

Retired Division 3 basketball coach Bob Sherlock came to Inland Lakes Saturday as part of the girls basketball program’s preseason workout program. Footwork, dribbling and shooting were the theme of the day.

The basketball camp was from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The schedule was spot on with drills to improve things that players were struggling with, from footwork to pivoting. Then the girls had practice followed by a team lunch. After lunch the teams had another skill session with shooting and more pivoting.

“If you can’t pivot, you can’t pass,” coach Bob Sherlock said. “If you can’t pass, you can’t play.”

All the girls improved in something over the course of the day, whether it was dribbling or shooting or even their attitudes. Both teams grew stronger as a team and as teammates to one another.

“I definitely improved on my ball handling skills and not to get down on my self when I make a mistake cause I’m still learning,” freshman JV point guard Abby Makowski said.
