Experience Of Going To States XC

Both full cross country teams traveled down to Brooklyn, Michigan, on Friday for the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway.

Saturday was race day and the girls placed 21st overall. Coach Sarah Furman said that that was the best that the girls team had done at States. The boys finished in 27th.

“I think we all tried our best and did our best and I think we did really good overall” Lauren said.

Lexi Passino finished 50th out of 236 girls with a time of 20:50. She tied 2009 graduate Amanda Monthei with the second highest finish in program history. Other competitors were Falyn Mansfield who placed 95th, Daisha Lubbers 106th, Taylor Fletcher 126th, Precious DeLos Santos 140th with a personal record, Lauren Vizina 147th, and Mallory Bunker 178th.

Luke Passino placed highest for the boys in 54th. Ian Dailey 146th, Brandon Dicus 147th, Cleveland Baker 149th, Cameron Biskupski 162nd, Andrew Dufek 164th and Beau Dicus 186th.

“Everyone work hard and didn’t give up and finished their races,” girls team member Katy Byrne said.

The team agreed that it was a long bus ride, but they made it fun by playing card games. The ride also served as team bonding time before and after the race.

“The best thing that happened this weekend was being with my team,” Precious said.

The one night the team stayed at the hotel was crazy, with moments like watching Netflix while chilling in their hot tub/bath tub, playing a football game but with a Frisbee and playing cards in the lobby.

Over all the team had spent their last weekend of cross country together and had a great season with each other.
