XC has fun in the mud

Junior Hunter Bishop sports a tie-dyed half shirt he created at a team bonding event while he runs through the first big water hazard at the Charlevoix Mud Run on Sept. 8.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, the cross country team traveled to Charlevoix for the Mud Run. During the race, the runners jumped hay bales, ran through water and mud, and jumped over log barriers during the 5km event.

“The Mud Run is all right,” sophomore Charlie Kennedy said about his first Mud Run. “With the obstacles and the hills, it makes it more difficult.”

Boys Results

40 Charlie Kennedy 19:25
116 Hunter Bishop 22:01
117 Ty Thompson 22:08
118 Nevin Thompson 22:09
~123 Beau Dicus 22:23

“The underclassmen in Charlie, Ty, and Nevin really stepped it up today and ran a great race with excellent time today.”

The team was missing a few key runners.

“We are missing two of the top three runners and that showed in our score today,” boys coach Brandon Beltz said. “We need them to round off our top five order to make the team whole and run more competitively.”

The next race will be on Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Boyne City for the Co-ed Invitational partner race.
