Coming off a big conference win against Mancelona, the varsity boys looked to keep the momentum rolling against Central Lake.
Coming into the game short two guys (Blumke sick, Major ineligible), the boys had to play smart, but still aggressive. The Bulldogs came out hard against the Trojans, shooting hot, and executing a good defense. Going into halftime with a 26-20 lead, the Bulldogs knew they had to shut the door for a possible comeback.
That they did.
The second half went in the Bulldogs favor, and they pulled away with the lead and locked the game down.
The final score was 55-35. Ian Clancy lead the team with 17 points, Kyle Whitman added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Nathaniel Wandrie had 8 points 6 rebounds.
“I feel like we played really well,” sophomore Nathaniel Wandrie said. “Our communication was there; we had glimpses of strong teamwork. We pushed the ball well, and towards the end of the game we started to complete some of the goals we had set.”
The varsity boys (4-3) (2-2) travel to Gaylord St. Mary on Thursday, Jan. 12.
