Varsity Opens With Tough Loss

The varsity football team opened their 2016 campaign traveling over the bridge to St. Ignace on Friday night.

Freshman Nathaniel Wandrie started the season off with a kick that dropped behind the Saints’ initial lines of blockers and in front of their return formation. The Bulldogs recovered the ball in Saints territory for their only full possession across the 50-yard line.

Freshman kicker Nathaniel Wandrie was only needed for the opening kickoff, as the Bulldogs were held scoreless by St. Ignace 0-44 on August 26.

The Saints’ defensive line was able to penetrate into the back field on nearly every down, limiting the Bulldogs to a single first down, which was earned with 8:15 left in the fourth quarter.
