Varsity scoring woes continue

The varsity football team continues to struggle on offense, being held scoreless in each of the past two games.

The team lost to last year’s state runner-up Glen Lake last Friday 62-0 and losing 43-0 to Johannesburg-Lewiston for Homecoming on Sept. 29.

Against JoBurg, the offense managed just 62 yards rushing on 20 attempts and threw 17 passes for 20 yards. David Baldwin led the rushing with 48 yards on 9 rushes.

Luke Parker replaced Ben Schramm at quarterback on Sept. 15 against Harbor Springs, but were held scoreless 34-0.

The team beat East Jordan 16-12 on Sept. 22, with Nathaniel Wandrie adding a field goal late to help seal the win.

To date, the team has scored 46 points to opponent’s 212. They are 2-3 in the Northern Michigan Football Conference and stand in fourth place in the Legacy division.
