On Jan. 31 the boys basketball teams took on the Onaway Cardinals. They came up with an intense win.
The Bulldogs started pretty even with the Onaway as the first quarter score was 10-8.
The Bulldogs stayed just ahead of the Cardinals, with Bulldogs playing good all around in the second, keeping the score low at halftime, 24-22. The Cardinals were still putting up a fight in this back and forth game.
The fourth is when the Bulldogs started to turn it on, scoring 28 in the final 8 minutes as they won 69-52. The Bulldogs leading scorer was Cleveland Baker with 16. The second leading scorer was Kyle Whitman with 15.
“I think that we knew if we got a bigger lead, we would have a better chance at keeping the lead and not losing,” sophomore David Burkhart said. “So we started being more aggressive trying to get a big lead.”
The Bulldogs play Pellston on Feb. 2 at home for Snowcoming.
