Varsity boys lose third straight to Hillman

Coming off a hard week in which the varsity boys basketball team dropped two conference games to Onaway and Pellston, the Bulldogs looked to bounce back and go into Christmas break above 500%.

The Bulldogs were off to a tough start before the game by only having 7 guys in the rotation (Trombly injury, Major sick, Burkhart suspended), so they had to play a smart game. The first quarter they looked composed and intense and faced a tough Hillman press head on. That intensity and composure quickly went away and the game slipped right away from the Bulldogs. Going into half time the Bulldogs had once again dug themselves a hole to climb out of, but this one was too deep.

The second half not much changed and Hillman ran away with the game. The boys showed moments were they looked good, but they were brief. The lack of rebounding and communication was yet again the main problem for the team.

The final score was 58-39. Kyle Whitman lead the team with 12 points, Cleveland Baker added 7, and Ian Clancy added 6. The team goes into Christmas break 2-3 and 0-2 in conference play.

“I think we turned the ball over a lot,” senior Kyle Whitman said. “We just tried to do to much at times as individual players, we weren’t in it most of the time.”

“We sucked,” senior Ian Clancy said. “Nobody wanted to rebound, nobody wanted to play, nobody cared.”

The boys play next January 4 against Mancelona.
