On Febuary 24, Mancelona came to Inland Lakes to play the boys basketball teams.
In the first quarter the varsity started out strong with lots of fast breaks and a tough defense, limiting Mancelona to only single looks on offense. Five minutes into the game Inland Lakes scored 21 points. Mancelona struggled to get through Inland Lakes’ defense. Inland Lakes took the lead 26-2, with Mancelona finally scoring with 18 seconds left in the quarter.
In the second quarter, the boys kept the pressure on. They kept pounding Mancelona on offense and defense. Ian Clancy and Andrew Dufek drove to the basket strong numerous times, either getting fouled or making their layups. The final score of the second quarter was 40-6.
The third quarter came and coach Joe Mahoney changed it up, taking the starters out and putting a new line up in. Mancelona struggled shooting, only making 5 points. The boys’ offense was still very strong. The varsity finished the quarter up 53-11.
Finally, the fourth quarter came and Inland Lakes was struggling to score. The only basket Inland Lakes made was Casey Andrew with a three pointer. The boys still didn’t give up on defense, only allowing Mancelona 3 points.
Inland Lakes took the win with the final score, 56-14.
