Meet the cheerleading coach, Ms. Erin Basgall. She has blonde hair, loves the Detroit Red Wings, and has the cutest cat you’ve ever seen. Check out some fast facts about her.
1.) What is your quirkiest habit?
“Not sure if this is a quirky habit necessarily, but I have a fear of ice and it sticking to towels. It’s really weird but it exists, it’s called cryophobia. I had to look it up because I knew it wasn’t normal. I’m weird.”
2.) What is one thing you would like to accomplish in your lifetime?
“I really want to go to Europe, especially Italy and Ireland. My first name means Ireland and the phrase “Erin Go Bragh” means “Ireland Forever”. I would love to learn more about my Irish heritage.”
3.) What is something beautiful you see everyday?
“Well, driving from where I live in Gaylord every day to school there is a bridge that I drive over. We have a love hate relationship. In the fall and spring it is beautiful to watch the sunrise when I reach the top of the bridge. But when it is snowing I panic and pray that I just don’t drive off the bridge, it’s a long way down.”
4.) What impresses you about kids?
“I’m beginning to notice things that my students pick up on things that I taught them. I can finally feel like I taught something when it sticks! When it comes to my cheerleaders, they impress my every day when they learn choreography or a new stunt, it’s amazing.”
5.) What social event do you hate the most?
“Sports banquets. I don’t know why I can teach in front of a packed room of high schoolers, but when it comes to parents and other coaches it’s super nerve wracking.”
6.) What are you afraid of?
“Spiders and the spirit stick being dropped.”
7.) What is your most valuable skill?
“I have a slight OCD disorder. It is valuable but sometimes it hinders my abilities and to-do list.”
8.) Describe yourself in 3 words.
“Ailurophile, Tech-Savvy, and Ambitious.”
9.) What is the weirdest thing you have ever ate?
“Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans.”
10.) What is something you hate, but wish you loved?
“Cardio – those hallways with my cheerleaders are killer.”
