Veterans Looking Forward to Track Season

Freshman Hailey Shank anchored the winning girls 4x800 replay team which also won its inaugural race on the new track surface.

After school on Monday, March 13, the Inland Lakes Track Team will be having their first practice. Sign ups are down by the high school gym.

Many people are really excited for the track season coming up.

“I’m like super, super, really super excited. That’s all I can think about,” sophomore Hailey Shank said.

Hailey is one of the star runners on the team. During the cross country season, she broke the record for the women’s 5K with a time of 20:02. For this year’s track season, Hailey hopes to set some more records.

“Some of my hopes are to break at least two of the records; one for the mile and one for the 800, and just do really good at states with my team,” Shank said.

With practice, Hailey will be able to achieve these goals, although, she is not the only one with aspirations. Luke Passino is also a great runner on the team, and he has many endeavors for this season.

“I’m excited about this season because I wanna break some more records, I think I can get the mile record and re-break the 800 and maybe get the 400 too,” Passino said.

So far, there are several people signed up, giving the impression that there will be a good turnout for the team this season.
