Ram Scram Offers Stiff Competition

Last Friday, the track team traveled to Harbor Springs to compete in the Ram Scram invitational. The team looks forward to this crazy meet every year. This was the teams’ second regular-season track meet and is the 13th annual Ram Scram, where some runners turn right instead of left on the track. A shot put relay is also added to the list of events for the day.

“Today was tough, the meet was extremely competitive tonight,” boys coach Brandon Beltz said. ” Our Kids got to race against some of the area’s best.”

If someone got first place in an event, they won a t-shirt, and medals were given to those who placed fourth or higher. A person scored points for their team if they placed eighth or higher. Some of the teams IL ran against were Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, Kalkaska, Grayling, Cheboygan, Pellston, and Sault Saint Marie. Both the Inland Lakes girls and boys teams finished in sixth place.

“The girls did an excellent job tonight battling against some tough competition,” girls coach Sarah Furman said. ” The performances tonight opened some windows for us and gave us some options to sort out.”
