The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Johannesburg-Lewiston to bring home a win after years of defeats.
The JV Bulldogs came in to the game with two of their fastest starters out, but still managed to keep their head in the game. They were seeking revenge against Joburg after a 15 point loss at home in the middle of December.
“Even though we had two of our best players out, I still believed that we could come out of this with a win,” freshman Savannah Spence said.
The girls started the game strong and continuously passed the ball inside to post player Hannah Green. They ended the first half with a 12-5 lead.
“I’ve told Hannah since the first day of practice in November that no one in our league at the JV level could stop her in the post,” coach Tim Morley said.
Green led the team with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The JV girls stayed focus and was determined in the tense final minutes, working to burn time of the clock in the closing minutes as JoBurg chased and attempted to foul.
The final score was 22-17. The JV girls record is now 7-5.
