On Tuesday, January 19, Inland Lakes’ rival Onaway came to town.
In the first quarter the junior varsity boys fought to keep up. Both teams had foul problems, one after another. Onaway started out in a press, but the boys broke it over and over again.
By the end of the first half, the boys caught up to the Cardinals. Onaway had a hard time getting through Inland lakes defense in the second quarter leaving the score at 20-24 Onaway midway through the game.
During the third quarter the boys poured it on, scoring 22 points, leaving the score 42-36. Freshman Cleveland Baker with 14 points in the quarter. His defense led to numerous seals on the night.
Onaway came back and the score went back and fourth during the final 8 minutes. With three minutes left, Inland Lakes held a one point lead.
The game was so intense the Onaway coach got ejected. Caeden Blumke tore it up from the free throw line, with 7 points in the final quarter.
The Jv boys won the game 62-57.
