Harbor stomps the varsity

Tristan Overholt tips the ball to himself enroute to scoring his second touchdown of the game during the 52-12 loss to Harbor Spring on Sept. 14.

On Sept. 14 the varsity football team hosted the Harbor Springs Rams.

The Bulldogs started the game off very well. On the first defensive play, the Rams fumbled the football and David Burkhart recovered it. On the next play Luke Parker threw a 39 yard touchdown pass to Tristan Overhault. Nathaniel Wandrie’s extra point attempt was blocked. The Bulldogs led 6-0.

After that the Rams answered right back. The Bulldogs started slowly falling apart. At the end of the quarter the Rams were up 26-12.

In the second quarter it was more of the same – the Bulldogs got progressively worse. If you were there you could see a change in the tone of the players. It looked as if they were really struggling.

Going into the second half the Dogs were convinced that they could win the game, but then the Rams scored another touchdown. The team looked frustrated and perhaps looked like they gave up.

The final quarter did not change. The Rams never lost the lead. Throughout the whole game, the Rams scored 32 points off of kickoffs and punts.

At the end of the game the final score was 52-12. For the third time this season, the other team scored 50 or more points.
