The JV lady bulldogs traveled to Pellston Friday night to get their coach a milestone victory.
With an intensity developed over the past month, the JV Bulldogs came out with a win.
In the first four minutes the Bulldogs struggled, down 2-7. After a Pellston timeout, they pulled it together as a team and started the come back. After tying the score two minutes later, the ladies never looked back. The final score was 40-27.
“We definitely came together as a team more towards the end,” freshman Savannah Spence said.
The JV’s defense was the strongest part of their game, while struggling with lay ups in the half court offense, missing close shots that could have turned the game into a blowout.
The win earned coach Tim Morley his 100th career win.
“I’ve had the privilege of coaching some of the best people to come through Inland Lakes,” coach Morley said. “It keeps me young.”
The varsity stole the win tonight despite tough foul problems. The final score was 48-40.
In the first half, the girls struggled to find a lead. At the end of the first half, the score was 18-18. The girls clamped down on defense after half time and earned a lead early in the second half. Lexi Passino had multiple steals and fast break lay ups in the second half to seal the win.
The varsity now stand at 2-4 (2-3 in conference) and host Onaway on Wednesday, January 13.
