Central Lake Hosts Invitational

On May 9, Inland Lakes’ varsity track team traveled down to Central Lake to compete against 10 other teams, those teams being Johannesburg-Lewiston, Grand Traverse Academy, Ellsworth, Mancelona, Onaway, Bellaire, Gaylord St. Mary’s, Pellston, Forest Area, and Central lake. Both IL teams finished in second place, the girls finishing with 139 points, and the boys finishing with 130 points.

Also, both teams lost to Joburg, with the girls lost by  22.5 points and the boys lost by 21 points. Instead of dwelling on this fact, both track teams have begun preparations for the conference meet.

“We definitely look to be the underdog for Friday’s conference meet in Bellaire,” girls coach Sarah Furman said. “The kids ran great today and they are ready for the challenge. I can’t wait.”
