The boys basketball teams hosted Pickford Tuesday night in a non-conference clash to open the 2015-2016 campaign.
Thomas Trombly led the junior varsity with 10 points, leading the team to a 44-23 victory.
“I think our defense was really good and we had good communication,” Trombly said. “I think we could have worked on setting up our offense better.”
The student section, sporting ugly Christmas sweaters, swelled for the varsity game.
“My favorite part of the student section was everybody being crazy and just having a good time cheering on our boys,” Abby Makowski said.
Andrew Dufek led the scoring with 22 points, while Ian Clancy added 14, leading the high powered varsity boys to a 68-47 win.
“I felt like we did a good job as a team of distributing the ball with each other and playing up to our ability,” Clancy said. “Not being nervous was key for the win and being sure everyone was into the game, the fans included, helped a lot with keeping the energy levels high.”
“We were prepared,” O’Connor said. “They tried to press us, and we went on a 15-0 run. We were just more athletic.”
