The junior varsity lost 26-34. Kyle Whitman and Cleveland Baker each had 7 points.
“I brought ball handling and confidence to the court last night,” Baker said.
“St. Mary is such a hard place to play,” junior varsity coach Lee Nash said.
The varsity was down 21-26 at the half, but came back in the third, scoring 16 points while holding St. Mary to only 7. This proved the difference in the game, sealing the 53-45 win. Andrew Dufek led with 18 points and a school record 24 rebounds.
“Andrew has a will and drive about him that a coach just can’t teach,” varsity coach Joe Mahoney said. “In my ten years of coaching in Saginaw and here at Inland Lakes, I have never seen a player want to succeed more than him.”
The boys are now 3-0 (2-0 in conference).
