Boys basketball tryouts started, on Monday, Nov. 5 and ended on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The varsity boys tryouts took place 3 to 5 pm right after school. Tryouts included all of the juniors and the seniors, as well as a sophomore, Beau Vizina. The athletes have 3 days to show head coach Lee Nash what they can do and who is gonna help lead the program to another successful basketball season.
On Nov. 8 Nash handed out letters to each tryout candidate stating whether or not they have made the team and will be a part of the 2018/19 program. Coming back from last season junior Nathaniel Wandrie has been on the varsity team for the past two years.
“Trouts were pretty good. Players worked hard, and everyone was focused,” Wandrie said. “I think that the season will go pretty good if we stick together and work hard enough we can strive to achieve our goals.”
Joining in tryouts, sophomore Beau Vizina gave it his all and strived to gain a position on the varsity team.
“It was very hot at tryouts and it was smooth and also rough,” Vizina said.
Accomplishing his goal, Vizina is ready to take on what the season will have to bring. “I think we will win districts again,” Vizina said.
Once the team was finalized, some of the players were asked what they believed the season would be like after seeing everyone work at tryouts.
“Everyone worked really hard and made sure that they were staying focused. You could definitely tell that there was a lot of potential,” junior David Burkhart said.
Overall, the Bulldogs are ready to take the court and to begin their very successful season.
