Prom 2016: Boots, Class, and a Lil’ Sass

Seniors Ian Dickinson and Tristan Krussel shake hands after an intense dance battle

The last dance of the year (and possibly the last dance for seniors) has finally passed. On Saturday, May 7, 11th and 12th graders awaited anxiously for prom to start.

Many of the juniors and seniors met up at DeVoe beach to get their pictures taken by the water in the early evening. After that, they headed down to Treetops Resort in Gaylord where prom was held. Dinner started at 6:30 pm and was followed by dessert from the ice cream buffet.

After the delicious meal, the lighting dimmed, and the dancing started. The room was humming with excitement and finally a couple people mustered up their courage and entered the dance floor.

“Tristan [Krussel] challenged me to a dance-off,” senior Ian Dickinson said. “I have two signature dance moves: the shoulder spin and the drop split. I pretty much won that dance-off.”

At 10:30, the crowning of prom King and Queen was announced. Senior Cameron Everingham won king, and MacKenzie Harrington won queen.

“I felt more royal than the Queen of England,” Harrington said. “I was really thankful too!”

Overall, it was an exciting night full of memories that will never be forgotten.
