JV cannot sustain offense against St Mary

Loss to GSM 22-6

On September 7, the junior varsity football team played against Gaylord St. Mary and came up short, 22-6.

The Snowbirds struck first with a safety with a blocked punt on fourth down. The Bulldogs struck back with a 92-yard touchdown run by Evan Malczynski-Fairchild, but they could not convert on the extra point. Then after a nice drive up the field by the Snowbirds an interception by Zach Bley in the end zone stopped the Snowbirds from putting more points on the board.

But the Bulldogs could not get any offense going as the Snowbirds kept the defense strong and held the Bulldogs to that single touchdown.

“My team needs to work on blocking in order to be successful,” Malczynski-Fairchild said. “Communication is a big part of being a team, and that’s one more thing we need to work on to win.”

Center Jaden Hurst is a great addition to the squad.

“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play before the season,” Hurst said. “But now that I have my pads, I’m OK”.

The Bulldogs play against Harbor Springs on Thursday.
